Health, administrative procedures… what changes on May 1, 2024

Labor Day, May 1 is also, like every year, the date of new consumer and health changes in your daily life. What's changing this year? TipsForWomens informs you.

The month of May rhymes with new products, on the consumer side. This year again, some changes will be noted tomorrow.

The fixed contribution for medical consultations increases

We had already talked about it in TipsForWomens, but from May 15, the flat-rate contribution for medical consultations, biological analyzes and radiology examinations increases. The remainder payable by patients (which is therefore not covered by Social Security), will thus increase from 1 euro to 2 euros.

Now is the time to apply for scholarships or student accommodation

Great start also for student requests. Students and new students who wish to obtain a scholarship or accommodation for the start of the 2024 school year must complete their application and submit it before May 31.

The benchmark price of gas starts to rise again

The benchmark price of gas provided by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) is increasing. On May 1, it will increase to 1.23 euros per MWh for the variable part excluding tax for cooking and hot water use, and to 1.48 euros per MWh for the variable part including tax. An increase which is explained by a slight increase in wholesale market prices of natural gas, indicates the body.

Using your CPF will cost 100 euros

From May 1, people wanting to use the Personal Training Account (CPF) will have to pay a flat rate contribution of 100 euros. However, this participation will not concern job seekers or employees whose employer contributes to paying for the training.

It's tax filing month

Since April 11, French people have had to complete their tax returns. As a reminder :

  • Those who complete it in paper format will have until Tuesday May 21, 2024 to send it, with the postmark as proof;
  • For the online declaration, residents of departments with a number between 01 and 19 will have until Thursday May 23 at 11:59 p.m. to complete it;
  • Departments 20 to 54 will have until May 30 at 11:59 p.m.;
  • Departments 55 to 976 will have until June 6 at 11:59 p.m.

May 1, last deadline to register on the electoral lists

If you have moved, acquired French nationality or recently regained the right to vote, you have until May 1 inclusive to register online, and until May 3 for procedures at the town hall. The deadline is extended until May 30 for certain people, such as those who become adults or French citizens between May 4 and June 8, and civil servants who move between these two dates.

The conditions of access to MaPrimeRénov' are becoming more flexible

From May 15, the terms of access to MaPrimeRénov' aid will become more flexible. Thus, people who request assistance to carry out insulation work or change their boiler will no longer be obliged to provide an energy performance diagnosis (EPD). People whose houses are classified F, or G (called “energy sieves”) will also be able to benefit from MaPrimeRénov' aid, which was not open to them until now.
