Back to school for children and for the environment!

Let’s go for the preparations for the start of the school year! Organization of the school bag, trips to school or the office, extracurricular activities and leisure time, how to plan a serene, responsible and easy return to school? Advice and tips from ADEME (Ecological Transition Agency).

Did you know that in France, sales of school supplies represented an overall turnover of around 600 million euros between the beginning of July and the end of September 2019. (Source: GfK Market Intelligence)? These must-have back-to-school purchases can also become more eco-responsible.

For example, keeping your backpack (20 liters and 100% polyester) for 5 years rather than 2 years, reduces its environmental impact by 60%.

When it comes to food, children are taught to listen to their hunger. Indeed, €0.98 per meal is the cost generated by food wastage in the canteen on average.

Finally, to go to school, we do not hesitate to make this trip a pleasant and responsible moment. 90% of French families live less than 1km from their child’s elementary school. At the same time, the car is the leading mode of transport used by parents to accompany their children to school (30%). This year, we’re putting on our best sneakers and going to school on foot!
